The Threads of Love Ministry is a group of dedicated women who come together to create handmade items to share Christ’s love with others in our community and across the globe. Whether knitting warm scarves, crocheting prayer shawls, sewing quilts, weaving wash cloths or stitching bookmarks; members use their skills to bring care and comfort through their handiwork. More than just a crafting group; we are a place of fellowship, encouragement, and purpose, where every stitch is prayerfully made and carries a message of love and compassion. Beginner and seasoned fiber artists alike are welcome to join with us to make a difference – one stitch at a time.
Our group began as the Prayer Shawl Ministry in 2009 and has grown to include dozens of different items made using a vast array of skills. Our group is now inclusive of all fiber arts and we welcome all adult women from our church and community who enjoy:
- Knitting
- Crocheting
- Quilting
- Sewing
- Embroidery
- Felting
- Macrame
- Rug hooking
- Cross stitch
- Tatting
- Needlepoint
- Weaving
Come relax and enjoy stitching with other women sharing our passion for fiber arts while creating tangible reminders of God’s love for the recipients of our items. “Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others, as good stewards of the varied grace of God. (1 Peter 4:10) Weekly meetings are held on Tuesday mornings at The Heights Baptist Church from 10-12 and on the 4th Saturday each month from 11 am – 1 pm in Chester.

FAQ's
Where/when does TOL meet?
TOL meets at The Heights Baptist Church each Tuesday morning from 9:30-12:00 in Room C121.
What should I bring with me when I come?
Yourself. If you have needles or hooks, then by all means, bring them. But if you don’t, TOL has plenty! If you have a project you’re working on, feel free to bring that as well.
Do I have to be a member of The Heights Baptist Church to join TOL?
TOL welcomes ladies from all over the community. Several different churches/denominations are represented by TOL members each week.
Does TOL provide childcare?
TOL does not offer childcare during our meetings. Don’t let that discourage you from participating, however. TOL has several ladies who aren’t able to make it to meetings but still come and grab yarn they need for projects they are working on and turn them in as they finish. They still stay connected through the TOL monthly newsletter.
What kind of yarn does TOL use?
For the most part, TOL projects use worsted weight yarn. TOL does not use wool yarn for its work because of its need to be dry cleaned. Some popular brands of yarn TOL uses include Red Heart Soft, Lion Brand, Impeccable, Vanna’s Choice, Caron Simply Soft, Lilly, & Peaches & Cream.
How can I support TOL?
Pray for TOL! Additionally, TOL will happily take the yarn stash you or someone you know is not using and put it to good use. Bring it to the front desk during regular church office hours. If you are so inclined, you can give to TOL by designating as such on the E-giving section of theheightsonline.com. TOL also welcomes gift cards to Michael’s and Joann’s.
